BBA(Shipping & Logistics)

The Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.)-SHIPPING AND LOGISTICS is a 3 year degree course, affiliated to the Goa University. The objective of BBA-SHIPPING & LOGISTICS course to build competence in students, to effectively undertake entry level managerial jobs in Shipping & Logistics organisations, to effectively handle various shipping related operations on their own and to develop various soft skills required for the profession

It is three-year full time degree programme. Trimester system is followed, 1st year and 2nd year has four terms each and there are three terms in the 3rd year. There is Summer Internship of six weeks each at the end of 1st and 2nd year. At the end of the 3rd year Summer Internship is of 4 weeks. Each term will be of approximately 3 months duration, inclusive of vacations.

Programme Specific Outcomes of B.B.A. (Shipping & Logistics)
After completing the programme, a Business Management graduate in Shipping and Logistics will be able to:
  • PSO 1: Take day to day decisions in Shipping and Logistics related organizations.
  • PSO 2: Exhibit specialized knowledge and competencies in their area of focus (Export-Import, Chartering, Marine Insurance, Maritime Law, Retail Business Management, Logistics department of any organization).
  • PSO 3: Maintain documentation related to their domain.
  • PSO 4: Effectively make business presentations, communicate with confidence (oral & written) and apply the knowledge of other soft skills (e.g. Etiquettes, Negotiation skills, Time Management, Emotional Intelligence) learned during the programme.
  • PSO 5: Resolve short term challenges in the industry.
  • PSO 6: Identify opportunities and contribute toward business growth.
  • PSO 7: Manage organizational resources effectively and efficiently.
  • PSO 8: Work effectively in team situations.
  • PSO 9: Demonstrate effective analytical and critical-thinking skills in an organizational context.
ADMISSION TO BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (BBA)

ADMISSION CRITERIA
  • Std. XII Pass from any stream of a recognised board (20% Weightage)
  • UGAT / Entrance Exam (50% Weightage)
  • Personal Interview (30% Weightage)

* UGAT Undergraduate Aptitude Test (UGAT) conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA, Delhi) in the month of May every year. There are test centers in Goa as well.

Admission Procedure
  1. Collect the challan for prospectus from BBA office.
  2. Pay Rs 500/- in Indian Overseas Bank Zuarinagar.
  3. Come back to the office and produce the student challan copy to office
  4. Collect the prospectus along with application form.
  5. Fill the Application Form and submit to the office.
  6. Answer Entrance Exam followed by personal interview.
  7. Check name on Merit List.
  8. If name is there on merit list, submit :
    • Photocopy of Std XII mark sheet
    • Original Leaving Certificate
    • Eligibility Certificate ( For students from a board other than Goa)
    • Migration Certificate ( For students from a board other than Goa)
    • Photocopy of Aadhar Card
    • Student’s passbook first page showing IFSC and MICR code.
    • The 5 Annexures at the back of the prospectus have to be duly filled and signed and submitted along with the application form.
  9. Collect the fees challan from the BBA office.
  10. Pay Rs 62305/- in Indian Overseas Bank Zuarinagar (Indian Overseas Bank for Shipping & Logistics).

Students from HSSC Boards other than Goa have to get Provisional Eligibility Certificate from Goa University within 3 months you have to submit MIGRATION Certificate.

BBA SYLLABUS : BBA GENERAL COURSE

The Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.)-SHIPPING AND LOGISTICS is a 3 year degree course, affiliated to the Goa University. The objective of BBA-SHIPPING & LOGISTICS course to build competence in students, to effectively undertake entry level managerial jobs in Shipping & Logistics organisations, to effectively handle various shipping related operations on their own and to develop various soft skills required for the profession

It is three-year full time degree programme. Each year will consist of three terms; there will be an additional summer placement term of six weeks each and at the end of 1st and 2nd year. Each term will be of approximately 3 months duration, inclusive of vacations.

We at the BBA believe that the learning process is more effective if it is student centric. Every aspect of the learning and enhancement of facilities – be it in the lab or the classroom -- takes place with the student in mind. To help the student in his/her learning process the department has a classroom with all the necessary technical facilities be it LCD projector, laptop, or WIFI facility. The seating arrangement is also flexible which can be changed as per the demands of the faculty or for better exchange of ideas between students. The students are provided with the facility of book bank, where a student gets an individual copy of a text book. In addition to this, lots of reference books, journals and magazines are available for the students. The BBA computer lab gives unlimited access to the world of information through internet. Each student can use the lab as and when he/she wishes to during the college hours. The syllabus at the BBA is never stagnant; it is changed and modified to meet the requirements of the industry. The faculty also makes constant efforts to impart and share the necessary information with the students thus making the students ready to be embarking on his/her career in the industry. The development of the student is not just limited to the activities in the campus, infact the student is encouraged to participate in the various competitions, seminars be it in the state or outside the state. Firsthand experience is given to the student with the compulsory internship in industry which exposes the students to the nitty-gritties of the industry..
