The M.Com programme of M.E.S college of Arts and Commerce was started under the Department of Commerce of the College in the year 2016 and inaugurated on 20th June 2016 by former HOD and Dean, Department of Commerce, Goa University and Current Registrar of Goa University Prof. Y.V Reddy. The course intake is 30 students. The course offers specialization in the area of Accounting and Finance.The M.Com Programme is co-ordinated by Assoc.Prof. Mrs Rochana V. Kharangate. The first batch 2016-18 passed successfully with 100% results. The department organizes continuous guest sessions delivered by professionals such as CA’s, Entrepreneurs, Academicians and Industry experts. The department conducts weekly newspaper analysis, screening of life budget, sessions on mock trading, sessions on NET/SET coaching, sessions on Business Communication Skills, and Mock Interviews.

The department conducts industrial visits to CIBA to inculcate entrepreneurial skills in students and visit to industries such as Smart Link and Nestle India ltd to give a practical insight to the students about the production assembly line, and inventory management. The department also actively participates in seminars, workshops and intercollegiate events organized by other colleges.

The department conducts annual PTA meetings.

M.COM. PROGRAMME OUTCOMES

 After completing the Programme the student will be able to:
  • PO 1: Discuss principles of Managerial Accounting and Financial services for business decision-making
  • PO 2: Understand the concept and importance of corporate taxation
  • PO 3: Explore behavioural aspects of various investment avenues and financial markets
  • PO 4: Evaluate investment strategies from the perspective of financial institutions
  • PO 5: Examine different investment schemes with respect to risk and return
  • PO 6: Analyse and interpret the influence of securities, forex, commodities and future market on the business
  • PO 7: Evaluate the risk and returns associated with various investment avenues for an investment plan
  • PO 8: Apply appropriate data analysis tools and techniques in the research reports
  • PO 9: Offer rationale to analyse a decision and substantiate the decision making process through modeling and data analysis
  • PO 10: Offer services as an analyst or consultant or member of staff of accounts/audit unit of an organisation or an educational institution
  • PO 11: Work as team member and also lead a team
    • Eligibility for Admission (OC-45.2 of GU Ordinance)

    The eligibility criteria for admission to the M.Com programme are as under:

    1. Candidates must pass the Bachelor of Commerce Degree examination of Goa University or any other recognized university with a minimum of 45% marks./li>
    2. Candidates must pass the Entrance Examination conducted by Goa University.
    3. Admission is based on the ranking at Entrance Examination conducted by Goa University
    4. A candidate admitted for Semester–I shall be deemed eligible for admission for Semester II.
    Number of seats available:

    The intake for the M.Com offered by the college is 30 seats each.

    A) For M. Com. Semester I & II
    1. The application form shall be filled online at www.mescollege.org
    2. Students should have a Gmail account.
    3. A passport size photo (not exceeding 1 MB) should be uploaded.
    4. The admission form shall be uploaded along with the following documents (each document not exceeding 1 MB):
    • a) Scanned copy of original mark sheet of B.Com examination and two self-attested photocopies of the same.
    • b) Eligibility Certificate(in original) issued by Goa University (for those students who have passed B.Com examination through any other recognized University other than Goa University if applicable)
    • c) Scanned copy of original Aadhar card and first page of the bank pass book
    • d) Scanned copy of original caste certificate
    • e) Undertaking by the student
    • f) Undertaking by the parent
    • g) Undertaking for discipline attendance

    2. Six copies of recent passport size photographs
    3. Once the admission form is filled and the relevant documents are uploaded, the student will be taken to the online payment gateway for payment of fees.
    4. The student will receive an email on successful payment of fees confirming his/her admission.
    B) For M. Com. Semester III & IV
    1. The application form shall be filled online at www.mescollege.org
    2. Students should have a Gmail account.
    3. A passport size photo (not exceeding 1 MB) should be uploaded.
    4. The admission form shall be uploaded along with the following documents(each document not exceeding 1 MB):
    • a) Scanned copy of original mark sheet of previous semester examination (I and II)
    • b) Scanned copy of original Aadhar card and first page of the bank pass book
    • c) Scanned copy of original caste certificate
    • d) Undertaking by the student
    • e) Undertaking by the parent
    • f) Undertaking for discipline and attendance
    • g) Students from other colleges (not affiliated to Goa University) should submit provisional Eligibility Certificate issued by Goa University and Migration Certificate and Transfer Certificate from their respective Universities.
    1. Once the admission form is filled and the relevant documents are uploaded, the student will be taken to the online payment gateway for payment of fees.
    2. The student will receive an email on successful payment of fees confirming his/her admission.

    * Payment of Fees in instalment is allowed subject to approval of the Vice Chairman.
    * Students from Semester I and III and II and IV have to pay examination fees as per the dates announced by the Goa University.
