Workshop On Research Methodology -M.Com

The M.Com department of M.E.S College of Arts & Commerce organized a full day workshop on Research methodology on 30th July 2016 at college seminar hall from 9:30am to 4:30pm.

The resource person for the workshop was Dr.Gopakumar, Head Librarian of Goa University.

The workshop started at 9:30am. Present on dais were Principal Dr R B Patil, Vice Principal V V Sail, Resource Person Dr Gopakumar, Head of Department of Commerce Associate Professor Champa R Parab, M.Com Course Coordinator Associate Professor Rochanna Kaharangate.

Principal Dr R B Patil welcomed the guest and spoke about the importance of research methodology. part 1 student Ms Antara welcomed the guest with a floral bouquet after which the session commenced.

Dr Gopakumar gave a brief introduction about the concept of research. During the first part of the workshop he spoke about the importance of identifying a research problem and he also explained the various steps in preparing a proposal or pre synopsis for research. He explained about the sampling methods. He constructed a questionnaire for explanation purpose. Based on the questionnaire students were told to enter data in Ms-excel. There was a 15 minutes tea break from 11:15am to 11:30am. After which students were told to represent the data in tabular and graphical format. He explained about entering data, representing data in tabular and graphical format and interpreting the results to draw conclusions.



There was a lunch break from 1:15pm to 2:00 pm.

In the next session after the lunch break he explained about the various steps involve in report writing and shared some useful tips of report writing in Ms-Word. He gave a brief idea about the chapterization of a report, the page layout, margins, paragraph style, font style, font size, writing of references, and framing the table of contents.

He explained the tools and techniques of Ms-Excel and Ms-Word to be used while conducting research.

Dr Gopakumar shared his theoretical as well as practical knowledge. He involved a lot of examples while explaining and made it a very interactive session.
