Inaugural Function of College Council 2018-19
“To Be a Great Leader, Be a great human being first”- Dr. M.R.K. Prasad
"Besides being a great leader, one has to be a great human being and that the student’s representative should be role models for their colleagues" said Dr. M. R. K. Prasad, while speaking as the Chief Guest at the Inaugural function of College Council of MES College of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar-Goa. Principal Dr. R. B. Patil, Vice Principal Dr. Rekha R. Gaonkar, College Council Chairperson Shri. Sanjiv K. Shirodkar, General Secretary Master Pankaj Naik and Ms. Raashee Rajesh Yadav were present on the Dais.
He also stressed that innovation has to come from students and as they go forth in their life’s they will carry the tag of the institution. He stated that India is a diverse country which still upholds its values of democracy and this is reflected in the student college council elections at colleges. This proves that we still value the ideals of democracy in colleges.
The function began with an invocation song sung by Mr. Shubham Sawant and group. Vice- Principal Dr. Rekha R. Gaonkar welcomed the gathering and mentioned about the smooth conduct of the college council elections held earlier. She also insisted on the college council to come up with innovative activities during the academic year 2018-19. The esteemed chief guest was introduced by Associate Professor Shri. Sanjiv K Shirodkar, Chairperson of College Council. And a floral welcome was presented to the Chief Guest by the Ladies Representative Ms. Raashee Rajesh Yadav. The Chief Guest and the dignitaries then lit the traditional lamp to mark the beginning of a new academic year for the college council 2018-2019.
Dr. R. B. Patil, Principal of M.E.S College of Arts and Commerce administered the oath to the student’s council representatives. This was followed by the felicitation of the College Council members, wherein the Chief Guest pinned up the badges on the student council secretaries and presented the badges to the Class representatives of the college. Dr. R. B. Patil President of college council delivered the Presidential Address. He urged the students to carry the responsibility and set an example for the students. He further stated that the students would have certain expectations from the leaders and it would be necessary to work with perseverance and dedication for the welfare of the students. A memento was presented to the Chief Guest by Dr. R. B. Patil as a token of gratitude. Mr. Pankaj Sagun Naik, General Secretary, College Council proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the National Anthem. The comperes for the function were Ms. Merin Varghese and Ms. Marissa Gonsalves students of M.E.S College. The staff and students of the college were present to witness this official ceremony.
