Exploring Wild India: Journey of the Butterfly Man
Nature Club of MES College of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar-Goa and MES Society in collaboration with FERC (Foundation for Environment Research and Conservation) organizes a monthly lecture series ‘Kasturi’ on the first Wednesday of every month. For the month of January the topic of Kasturi talk was ‘Exploring Wild India: Journey of the Butterfly Man’. The guest speaker for the talk was Shri. Issac Kehimkar, Director, iNaturewatch foundation.
The speaker Shri. Issac Kehimkar took the audience through a beautiful journey of different species of butterflies. He started off by speaking about India as a mega diversity nation and also mentioned how we tend to underestimate our national wealth of our different biodiversity. He then showed photographs of different butterflies of North Eastern terrain and explained its significance. He narrated his experience of visiting Ladakh in search of a rare butterfly. He also explained the different behaviors of butterflies.
The talk was followed by an engaging question and answer session where the public as well as students discussed their queries with the speaker.
The talk was attended by staff and students of MES College as well as MES Higher Secondary school. For the talk students and staff of other colleges as well community people were also present.
The memento to the guest speaker was presented by Dr. Manoj Borkar, Associate Professor in Zoology and Environmental Biology, Carmel College for Women, Nuvem – Goa.
The talk concluded with vote of thanks from Ms. Madhura Bandekar member of FERC.
