Report on Orientation of CA Course and CS Programme (CPT).

Date: 25th June 2018

The Commerce Association for the academic year 2018-2019 had organised orientation for Chartered Accountancy Course and Company Secretary Foundation Programme for the first year B.Com students. The Aim of this orientation was to encourage students to prepare for the competitive exam of CA and CS. The orientation was held on 25th June 2018 at 12.30 p.m. in MS Kamat Seminar Hall. The students had represented themselves in large number. The chief Guest and the resource person for the orientation were CA Shri. Manjunath Hegde and Ms.Garima Vasudeva, Member of ICSI, CS. The orientation began with the welcome address by head, Department of Commerce. Prof.Ms.Rochana Kharangate.

The first session of the orientation was the orientation of CA Course. The orientation was delivered by CA Manjunath Hegde, wherein he spoke about the importance of CA course for the commerce students and how they have to go about in preparing themselves for the competitive exam. He also shared the mantra that hard work, commitment and strong dedication is the only key to crack the CA exam.  The second session of the orientation was handled by the  Ms.Garima Vasudeva, Member of ICSI, CS.

Ms.Garima Vasudeva appealed to the students on the importance of CS programme. He also oriented students on the various aspects of CS programme and how they have to prepare for the exam.  Lastly the vote of thanks was proposed by the co-ordinator of Commerce Association Asst. Prof. Narendra Gaonkar.

 

Report on Bridge course 

Date: 25th June to 30th June 2018    

The Department of Commerce conducted annual Bridge course for students who opted for streams other than commerce at plus two level. The course was conducted from 25th June to 30th June 2018. The resource persons for the course were Asst. Prof. Swati Shigaonkar and Asst. Prof. Narendra Gaonkar. The sessions during the course covered the concepts of Book Keeping, Introduction to Commerce, Accounting, Difference between accounting and Book Keeping, Branches of Accounting, systems of accounting, golden rules of accounting, accounting concepts and conventions, process of recording transactions, primary books and subsidiary books. The students were acquainted with various terms in commerce. The objective of the course was to analyse their level of understanding of the subject before the start of the curriculum and bridge the gap by enhancing their knowledge and bring them on par with students from commerce background. The course gave particular focus on Book Keeping, Rules of Accounting and Journal entries. The course was successfully concluded on the scheduled date.

 

1.    Report on Orientation on CMA Course

Date: 26th June 2018

The Commerce Association 2018-19 organised an orientation on CMA Course for the B.Com students. It was held on 26th June 2018 at 12.30 p.m. in MS Kamat Seminar Hall. The Chief Guest and resource person for the orientation was CMA Shri Rammohan Menon. The welcome address of the orientation programme was done by the Co-ordinator of Commerce Association . Further the introduction of the Chief Guest Shri Rammohan Menon was done by Prof. Ms. Rochana Kharangate. Shri Rammohan Menon , urged students to opt for the course as there is lot of market recognition for the course. Shri Menon discussed the positives of pursuing CMA programme. The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Asst. Prof. Narendra gaonkar.

 

1.   Report on Orientation on TYBCOM project

Date: 1st July 2017

The Commerce Department had organised orientation of project paper for T.Y.B.COM students on 1st July 2017 in MS Kamat Seminar Hall at 12.30 p.m. The orientation was conducted with the objective of providing insights of preparing for the project paper at the University Exams. The resource person for the orientation was Dr.Harip Khanapuri from S.S.Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira-Bambolim.

The resource person discussed on the prescribed guidelines of Goa University for project paper. He also discussed in detail the research methodology, bibliography and other requirements of project. The session was followed by a question-answer round among the audience. The orientation aimed at addressing the queries of project study that would result into further quest for learning. 

 

Report of Inaugural Function of Commerce Association 2018-19

Date: 19th July 2018

Department of Commerce of M.E.S. College held inaugural function of Commerce association for the academic year 2018-19 in the hands of Shri. Krishna Salkar who was invited as chief guest for the function.Function commenced with the welcome address of H.O.D of Commerce Dept. Ms. Rochana Kharangate. She highlighted the importance of commerce association in the inclusive growth and development of commerce students. She informed the gathering about the different activities conducted by commerce association for first year, second year and third year students, she welcomed all the guest, teachers and Students for the function. Further the introduction of the chief guest was given by Ms. Merin Varghese, President of commerce association 2018-19.

Traditional lamp was lighted in the hands of the chief guest to symbolize the traditional culture among the students and teachers of M.E.S College. All the co-opted members were felicitated with the flower and a batch in the presence of chief guest and Vice Principal. In keynote address of the chief guest he emphasised on the overall development of the students with help of all other extra-curricular activities organised by the department of commerce. He also promised to extend the helping hand for the students for any kind of help needed. Vice-Principal Dr. Rekha Gaonkar in her Presidential remark congratulated the department of Commerce for inaugurating the commerce association the academic year 2018-19. She appreciated the entire department for conducting number of activities for the entire year. She said the department of commerce is the biggest department in the college not only in terms of students and faculty members in the department but also in terms of number of activities conducted by the department.

Mr. Mahabaleshwar Pednekar, Vice- President of the commerce association proposed the voteof thanks. He congratulated all the co-opted members and Dept. of Commerce. Special thank was given to Photography Secretary Mr. Rajat Narvekar for capturing all the moments. The programme ended with National Anthem.

 

1.    REPORT ON INFOTAINMENT COMPETITION 

Date: 24 August 2018

Commerce Association of MES College of Arts & Commerce Zuarinagar Vasco Goa, had organised Infotainment competition for the students of FYBcom. The competition started with warm welcome address by Prof. Seltan Gomes. There were total seven teams participated from all five divisions of FYBcom.

Each team selected the topic made available to them by organisers. Some of the topics were Life of students in college, Alcohol & Drug Abuse, Social Media a boon or a bane, Importance of traffic rules in our life etc. Every team shared various issues regarding the topics.

In the presidential address of the Principal R.B. Patil said, the opportunities like these competition gives the platform for the students to participate in co-curricular activities and develop their overall personality. The Judges for the competition were Prof. Bhiku Bhave & Prof. William Desouza. The prize distribution ceremony was in the  hands of  the Principal. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms. Merin Varghese, President of commerce association.

 

1.    INTER H.S.S.C BUSINESS QUIZ COMPETITION

Date: 1st September 2018

The commerce department of M.E.S college of Arts and commerce , Zuarinagar ,Vasco, Goa had organised  an inter H.S.S.C business  quiz competition for all the higher secondary schools  in Mormugao  Taluka on 1st September 2018. The competition started with the welcome speech by the co-opted member. There were total 5 teams from five Higher secondaries from Mormugao participated and each teams were given the names as Samsung , Nokia, Oppo, Vivo, and Lenovo respectively. The Quiz master’s wereMs.BharaviKharangate and Mr.Abdul Shameer.  The first round was Question and Answer round .The second round was an audio visual round .The third round was buzzer round and fourth and final round was the rapid fire round.

Valedictory function was held in the presence of  Principal Dr. R.B. Patil as chief Guest for the function. The welcome address was delivered by the president of commerce association Ms Merin Varghese and the students  and teachers of Higher secondary school  gave their valuable feedback. In the presidential address by Dr. R .B Patil, Principal said that these types of curricular activities should be adopted by the students for their better growth and knowledge of the students. The winners of Inter H.S.S C Quiz Competition 2018-19 were M.E.S Higher Secondary School, Zuarinagar Vasco Goa and Runner up were Kendriya Vidyalaya 1 School, Vasco Goa. The prize distribution was in the hands of Principal. And the gathering concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr Mahableshwar  Pednekar   , Vice President of commerce association.

 

1.   REPORT ON FINANCIAL LITERACY & AWARENESS PROGRAMME

Date: 05th October 2018

Department of Commerce organised Financial Literacy and Awareness Programme on Friday, 05th October 2018 in MS. Kamat Seminar Hall. The Guest Speaker for this programme was Mr. Rajendra D. Dalvi  (Financial Educational Trainer) appointed by SEBI. The programme began with the welcome address and introduction of guest speaker by Prof. Ms. Rochana Kharangate (H.O.D Commerce Dept.). Students of PG level as well as UG level were present for this financial literacy programme. The guest speaker Mr. Rajendra D. Dalvi pulled the attention of the students towards various investments and saving options available to every individual. He further insisted students to save money at very young age to get better returns in the future. The programme concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Asst. Prof. Ms. Jamina D’souza.
